Eric Jagielo was born in Downers Grove, Illinois, on the 17th of May, 1992. Jagielo and his family remained in Downers Grove during his formative years and Jagielo ended up playing high school baseball for his local high school, Downers Grove North High School.

Jagielo turned down the chance to turn professional out of high school:

Jagielo made the surprising decision to turn down an offer from the Chicago Cubs, to play college baseball for the University of Notre Dame. Jagielo played for the Fighting Irish between 2011 and 2013. In his junior year playing for the Fighting Irish, Jagielo was named the Big East Conference Player of the Year. A testament to his impressive college career with the Fighting Irish.

Jagielo signed with the New York Yankees:

While Jagielo turned down the Chicago Cubs offer to go professional in 2010, Jagielo did accept an offer from the New York Yankees to turn professional during the 2013 Major League Draft. That same year Jagielo made his debut for the club, playing for the Staten Island Yankees. While signed with the Yankees, Jagielo went on to play for the Tampa Yankees in 2014.

In 2015 Jagielo was traded to the Cincinnati Reds:

In 2015, Jagielo was traded from the New York Yankees to the Cincinnati Reds. Along with a few other players from the New York Yankees. In 2016, Jagielo played for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Jagielo moved to the Miami Marlins following his stint with the Cincinnati Reds:

A few years later in 2018, Jagielo was acquired by the Miami Marlins. Under this particular contract he played for the starting lien up of the New Orleans Baby Cakes and the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

Jagielo did not choose to retire when he was released from the Miami Marlins:

In 2019 the Miami Marlins choose to release Jagielo from his contract. However, Jagielo did not choose to retire at the end of his stint with the Miami Marlins and instead elected to become a free agent. In the hopes of signing a new contract with another professional baseball club.

Jagielo did not bat for any team during the 2019 season:

While he did not retire from professional baseball, Jagielo did not sign a contract with a professional baseball team in 2019 and sat the season out. Which left many of his fans wondering if he would choose to retire or would continue hunting for a new proffesional team to play for.
