Marc Lancaster of the Rays Report has all the juicy quotes from the Tampa players on Shelley's Slide.

WW Staff - The "R"ays, not the "J"ays.
As for the incident, Shelley shouldn't have done that. Now it's Jeter's or A-Rod's head that will get drilled. Having said that, I'm not opposed to seeing the Yanks breathing a little fire every once in a while.

It's really just this simple:
Mess with the bull, get the horns.

MJ,
I can't stand this hyper-macho b.s.; but, unfortunately, inaction leads to more Yankee players getting beaned with impunity.

How so? There doesn't appear to be anything suggesting that. Last year the Yanks were 3rd in the AL in HBP, trailing Cleveland & KC. They haven't led the league in HBP since 2004.

^ well yeah, bc Pedro's not on the sawx anymore.
guess who leads the AL in HBP over the last 10 years. the TOP 3 are ALL Yankees. Giambi, Arod, Jeter in that order. how long should that go on?

Giambi (starting in 1996):
A's:5-6-5-7-9-13
Yanks: 15-21-8-19-16-8
ARod (starting in 1996):
M's: 4-5-10-5-7
Rangers: 16-10-15
Yanks: 10-16-8-21
In Giambi's case, his number of HBP's was increasing while in Oakland, while Rodriguez was being drilled as a member of the Rangers.

^ great, not sure what your point is though. Giambi has hardly played the last few years, probably why his HBPs have gone down.
you wanna just look at the last 4 years (since Arod joined)? in the AL, Arod #2, Giambi #4, Jeter #5. dude, it's NOT a coincidence.

Point is that they were getting hit before they played in NY. Giambi's HBP's were increasing when he was with the A's. Rodriguez was getting nailed as an M, and as a Ranger, so it make sense he gets nailed as a Yankee. 2007 was definately an outlier for him, time will tell if it's a trend.
Jeter gets hit so many times because pitchers try to work him inside. Any scouting report will tell you that.

The Rays have only themselves, or perhaps more accurately, their manager to blame.

Collisions at home plate happen more often than not. Trying to intentionally injure a middle infielder by spiking him, doesn't happen that often.

Not in ST, Raf, or at least they shouldn't, because Ws and Ls don't matter, otherwise they wouldn't end tie games after 9 innings.
IMO, if Duncan had been trying to injure the INFer, he would have actually inflicted an injury.

Then why block the plate?

My perception from watching the replay is that he left enough of the baseline open for the runner to go around him.

It is staggering that so many Yankee fans defend Duncan's actions.
"IMO, if Duncan had been trying to injure the INFer, he would have actually inflicted an injury."
Well Rich, the Rays player displayed a cut in his thigh to reporters. But it was a small cut, so I guess it doesn't count as an "injury" in your Yankee -centric world, right?
The idea that the play at the plate that injured the Yankee prospect was in any way dirty or wrong is ludicrous. He's supposed to come in standing up to get tagged out? He's supposed to risk injury and slide into a stationary object? The idea that the Yankees were in any way "wronged" is outrageous. A catcher got hurt in a collision at home. Deal with it. There's a reason why his equipment was called, long ago, "the tools of ignorance".
Now, Duncan. He runs his mouth off, then he makes a ludicrous dash to second with the intention of going in spikes high. Don't deny it. Put one and one together and its obvious what his intent was from the moment that the ball skipped away from Longoria. And as for his claim of sliding "into the glove", that is the biggest joke of all. An infielder puts the glove on the bag to tag the man out. Since when is the glove held two and a half feet above the ground, which is where those spikes were?
Oh, but Yankee fans are so proud that their team is standing up for itself. Well enjoy it when Duncan serves his suspension (you heard it here first, he'll get a minimum of five games (as will Gomes)). And enjoy it when Duncan pisses off other teams, and they decide he isn't worth messing with, they'll throw at A-Rod's head instead.
And most of all enjoy those future games with the Rays. They don't forget it when teams play dirty against them (see Brian Daubach and Pedro Martinez).

I was referring to a serious injury, like the one Cervelli sustained.
I get it, only people who share your world view are bias free.
