A-Rod: Jeter To Have MVP Season In 2008

At least, that's the quote from Alex today.

For what it's worth, from 2004 through 2007, Jeter's HR% has gone down, all four years in a row:

2004 3.58
2005 2.91
2006 2.25
2007 1.88

Therefore, Derek's going to have to bat over .370 this season to help Alex out on that prediction - or, find a power source for this year that's been missing for a while.

...I've been tested nine times...Pettitte can marry my daughter...Boston is the team to beat...Derek is going to be the MVP...Abreu will be a force...

If Alex is going to come out with an attention-grabbing quote everyday during this camp, it's going to be an interesting six weeks.

I can't wait until he gets to the one where he says "I think Edwar Ramirez is the next Stu Miller. And, he'll make the All-Star team this year."

It's going to be an all out Spring Training battle between Hank and Arod on who can make the most outlandish quotes everyday. The media is going to be in heaven....

Other than the 9 times statement, what's wrong with the other quotes? If he thinks Jeter's going to have a great year, good for him. The Pettitte one was hilarious. Same thing applies for Abreu as it does for Jeter. Boston is the team to beat, they're the defending champs.

Or should it just be "we're going to take it one game at a time" and "some times the breaks go your way" and "I just tried to get a good pitch to hit" over and over and over?

I'm with Jeremy M. What's so bad about this?I am starting to feel like the WW's staff is going the way of their Cashman out look in regards to Jeter. Not a lot of positive posts about the Yankees these days. I need to believe we are a better team than it seems like we are when i read here. Besdies, isn't Spring Training the time for unbridled optimism?

What's so bad about this?
---------
Don't think there's anything bad about it, just an observation of the press and the way they seem to go to Rodriguez to get a take on things.

It used to be that Jeter was the "go-to" guy when it came to quotes, that may not be the case anymore.
