Why Couldn't We Have Said It?
“Show me a guy who's afraid to look bad, and I'll show you a guy you can beat every time.”
- Lou Brock, lifetime Post-season OPS of 1.079 in 92 PA
Do you agree with the above quote? In a way, it makes sense, no?
Shame that a Yankee didn't say it - it would be a nice sign to hang up in the runway from the Yankees clubhouse to their dugout. Heck, I would post it in both English and Spanish.

Another problem with that is the clsasification of the player is based on the small sample size garbage of his postseason stats.
If a player did well, then his personality is determined to be one in which he was not afraid. If he didn't perform well, he's classified as one who was afraid.
It's similar to saying that a pitcher with a high ERA, but got a lot of "wins" because his team scored runs had the personality of someone who "knows how to win" while a good pitcher whose team doesn't score is a low character bum who can't win.

There's also the fact that, being a player who performed well in his small sample size craps, Brock has a personal vested interest in perpetuation the myth of its significance.

Show me a fan base that will trash one of their own if he looks bad in a short series, and I'll show you a team that will lose short series, every time.
