Aaron Rowand Coming?

I saw Seth Everett on Comcast's Out of Bounds tonight, talking about Aaron Rowand.

He said that the Yankees expect to trade Melky Cabrera as part of a package for Johan Santana or Dan Haren - and then will be willing to overpay for Rowand - - and Aaron Rowand knows this...which is why Rowand has not signed yet with anyone.

Gosh, if the Yanks give Rowand more than three years, they're nuts.

you get the feeling that the Yanks think they're going print cash at the new stadium. Hey, who knows?! They mmight be right!

Rowand hasn't signed yet because he was waiting for Torii Hunter to set the market for centerfielders, which he did (by getting a disgustingly overpriced contract).

Yankees always liked Rowand. He had a career year with the bat in a joke of a ballpark. It wouldn't be the worse signing in the world at the right price.

Rowand's Mike Cameron with less power and a little better BA and OBP. Not a bad placeholder until AJAX emerges. The Yankees might also see what it would take to get DeJesus from KC since they're rumored to be kicking the tires on Jones.
