Jeter Since Game 4 Of The 2004 ALCS

It's funny what you find when you actually look at the stats. This morning, the thought occurred to me: Everyone is on A-Rod for his recent post-season woes. But, what about Jeter? He's been less than great this post-season, so far. And, if I recall correctly, he's done little since Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS.

So, I decided to go to the stats and then write something about how people should get off Alex and stop giving Jeter such a pass on this...but, first, I needed the numbers to back this up.

And, what has Derek Jeter done with the bat, since Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS, through last night? Here are his numbers:

16 games
74 Plate Appearances
3 HR
11 RBI
.294 Batting Average
.500 Slugging Percentage

Oh, well, there goes that theory...

Good point about Jeter. I will say this, though: if A-Rod had those same stats and the team were still 4-11 in their past 15 playoff games since Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS, everyone would use the argument that A-Rod accumulates stats in losses and that his numbers are therefore hollow.

I'm not saying that about Jeter, I'm simply pointing out that A-Rod would be lambasted either way. He's never going to get people to lay off him. They hate him or they're jealous of him (or both). It sucks and it's terribly unfair but that's just how it is.

You already forgot the 5 for 5 game he had last year? :)

I must admit, I wasn't expecting that Steve. I thought Jeter was going to have bad stats as you were building it up. Then I laughed as I read your last line. Good one.

BTW, why is there a red underline every time I type the word "Jeter"? Shouldn't he be recognized by the damn computer? What's this world coming to?
