A Rested Kyle Farnsworth

Kyle Farnsworth has not pitched in a game since September 30th. For those scoring at home, that's almost 8 full days since he's last seen game action. I'm sure he's well rusted, er, I mean, rested.

Why am I fearing Joe Torre calling on Kyle for tonight's game in a big spot?

I guess it could be worse - Jeff Weaver had 28 days rest before Torre used him in the 2003 World Series.

No need to worry about Joe using Farnsworth in a big spot. He wouldn't even use him with a five-run lead last night.

Burning Joba out last night is going to come back to haunt us, I fear. This is the first time in his life Joba has thrown out of the bullpen. This is certainly the most he's thrown while being a reliever. Why take that inning out of his arm last night? He really had to push it to get out of the inning.

Joba should probably have tonight off, but no one has off in an elimination game and you could be in the position of asking Joba to get a critical out with an exhausted arm.

Tired? Whatever. Joe is not going down with Kyle Farnsworth or Luis Vizcaino. He's learned his lesson. Tom Gordon and Kevin Brown in 2004. Jaret Wright in 2006.

It's Wang for 6 or 7 and Joba and Mo for 2 or 3. Then, it's Andy for 6 or 7 and Mo and Joba for 2 or 3.

And that's it.
