Where The Lines Crossed
If you looked at how many runs the 2007 Yankees have scored, and have allowed, each month, from Opening Day to Labor Day, and then took the monthly averages and plotted them on a graph, it would look like this:
Looking at this graph, it's easy to notice that, once the Yankees got into August, something bad happened - as they started to allow more runs than they were scoring...by a lot.
This make me look back at the Yankees schedule and the results of their games played, to date. This is what I found: Since August 14th, the Yankees have gone 9-10...where their pitchers had an ERA of 5.79 and their batters had an OPS of .757 (in those 19 games).
August 14th was also the day that the Scooter passed away.
I wish I could tell you what happened and why the Yankees hitting and pitching starting heading in the wrong direction three weeks ago...but, it happened.
I just hope they get things heading back in the right direction over the next four weeks.

Thanks for the chart. Amazing how they seem to have loafed along all season, yet the chart shows otherwise.
On another note, it kinda shows how things can go south in a hurry
