A-Rod: Love NY, But, We'll See
From the Daily News -
At his foundation fund-raiser yesterday, Alex Rodriguez told the TV show "Extra" that he and his wife, Cynthia, love living in New York. A-Rod will have to decide by early November whether to sign an extension with the Yankees or opt out of his contract and become a free agent.
"We love New York and the foundation is in New York....We're here now," A-Rod said. "We'll see, but we love New York."
Is it just me, or, does "We'll see..." translate into "I don't want to tell you what I'm really thinking now"?

"Well See..." If the Yankees want to empty out their wallets to keep me here. Steve wouldn't you think if Arod really, really wanted to stay in NY, wouldn't he just say "Whatever it takes we'll make it work." ???

His agent would shoot him for saying that.

Do you buy Cashman saying if Arod opts out the Yankees will not pursue or is he bluffing? I think it would be pretty f*ck up if we lose that Texas money just b/c Arod opts out to push the price up.

I do believe Cashman, and I also believe the A-Rod deal this off-season will be the defining moment of his stint as GM, one way or another. As far as getting the most money and years, the only team that truly makes sense is the Yankees, unless somebody does something ridiculous like the way the Sox bid on Matsuzaka.
As far as interpreting words or statements from Rodriguez, at this point I think you'd be better off getting out the tea leaves, but that's just me. My feeling is he will be back, the wild card will be if he has another terrible postseason series like the last two have been.

Given what happened in Seattle and the circus that followed leading up to his signing in Texas, probably not.
Rodriguez will say what people will want to hear.
