Mnookin: Sox No Need To Worry
Seth Mnookin predicts the AL East finish this season -
If I was being forced to guess (note: I do not need to be forced to guess), I say Boston’s division lead will be as low as 4 games and that they’ll ultimately end up winning the East by somewhere between 6 and 8. Oh, and I’d also guess that New York won’t be in the playoffs, A-Rod won’t be in the Bronx come next spring, and Joe Torre will wish he’d retired a year earlier.
Mnookin's logic has an interesting point. Since May 21st, the Yankees have gone 31-23 and the Red Sox have gone 29-25. That's close to the same pace. If the two keep up the same pace, then it would have been the first 44 games of this season which decided the A.L. East winner. Bummer.

I find Seth so annoying. That's first time I read anything from Seth, where he's written more than one sentence and there isn't a plug for his book worked somewhere in there.
The U.S. government should make a oxygen reducing bomb where the science behind it is putting Seth and Schilling in the same room.

If I was being forced to guess (or even if I were being forced to guess) I'd say Seth Mnookin is an idiot.
And why even post this? Just to find the clouds in our current silvr lining?

Memo to Mr. Mnookin:
The Yankees will make the playoffs. 56-25 over the second half of the season, building on their 12-4 start to go 44-21 from here on in.
A-Rod will be back in the Bronx next year. (And probably for seven years after that.)
Mr. Torre will receive a two-year $17.25 million extension.
