Giambi-Mitchell Meeting Will Take Place
First, it was supposed to be Tuesday (today). Now, MLB says it's Wednesday (tomorrow). But, Giambi's agent says it's Thursday.
In any event, it seems like the "Giambi deadline" is this week - and that Jason will be meeting with George Mitchell. From Jim Baumbach -
Bud Selig's deadline for Jason Giambi to agree to speak with former Sen. George Mitchell arrives this week, and all indications point to a deal that will allow each side to save face.
Major League Baseball officials and Giambi's representatives remained quiet Monday, and both sides will likely continue to be mum until they finalize the terms of an agreement that puts the Yankees slugger and Mitchell in the same room.
Although Giambi would be the first known active player to cooperate with Mitchell's investigation into baseball's steroid problem, nothing of significance is expected to come out of the meeting.
T.J. Quinn thinks this is all prep for Bud to go after Barry Bonds. Know what? That makes sense. Looks like Jason may just be a pawn in a bigger chess match between baseball and Barry.

Based on what you excerpted this is only a request for Giambi to set a date by Thursday to agree to meet with Mitchell at a later date.
