More Leaks On Giambi Now Than In The UI Wing Of A Nursing Home
Reportedly, Jason Giambi failed a test for amphetamines. Shocking? Really? Even from the man who believes in better living through chemistry? No, it should not be shocking.
And, Giambi is probably not the only Yankee to pop a greenie or two before this season.
The bigger issue here is that the story was leaked. The source has to be Major League Baseball. Is this payback for Giambi's comments the other day that Major League Baseball should have apologized years ago for its widespread drug problem?
Sure sounds like it to me.
Giambi would have been better off to just leave the issue alone - and not stir this whole thing up. Now, it appears that he's going to be on Bud's whipping list for a while. And, that's not going to help the Yankees - with everything else going on this year.

"More Leaks On Giambi Now Than In The UI Wing Of A Nursing Home" -- Steve, by far your weirdest-visual, oddest-place-to-go headline ever. (I actually had to look up that "UI" stands for "urinary incontinence.")
But you are one hundred percent correct: this is payback, pure and simple. This is why it's hard to be a baseball fans sometimes. Because of the way Bud Selig runs his business. Selig and his goons want to be so tough on drugs, and they have their little investigation going and they want people to talk, but if you do, you better not have anything negative to say about THEM. If you do, they stab you in the back like they've done now with Bonds and Giambi. It came out that both of them tested positive for amphetamines last year.
MLB wants players to be up front and honest, but all they do is leak information through the media. Why would the union or the players want to do anything for an entity that continually stabs them in the back?
And if Giambi did do greenies, my reaction is: so what? Yeah, I know, it's wrong, etc., but baseball players having been doing it for years, the season is a grind, and sometimes you need something to wake you up.
It really is looking more and more like Giambi should have just kept his yap shut, which is kind of sad.

==========
They want the appearance that they're tough on drugs. There's a difference :)

"But according to ESPN's Peter Gammons, multiple sources are questioning whether the report is true.
Giambi has not been asked to take follow-up tests, which is what would occur if he had a first positive test for amphetamines.
Also, Gammons reports that the subject of amphetamines was not raised at Wednesday's meeting."
