Surprised? Not me. I've grown up and lived a few miles outside of Boston all 26 years of my life. That used to be me. I feel for the parents. How are they supposed to explain to their 5 (or 6, 7, 8, etc) year old why some GROWN UP (allegedly) is taunting them and telling them "they suck"?

Sorry for the double post -
Just wanted to add that this is why I so deeply hate the Red Sox and 95% of their fans. Growing up with this hostility and receiving this crap day in and day out is pretty hard to deal with. It was even harder when I was at an age where I didn't understand what I had done wrong to make these people I didn't know dislike me so much. And it's never a rational argument. It's never, "That was a tough loss for the Yanks last night. I thought it was over when Mo came in." It's always, "Yo, we beat your asses! Mo is done! He's got nothin'! NOTHIN'! We own his ass! YANKEES SUCK!"
I've been going to the same gym for over two years now. I wear Yankees stuff almost every day I go there. I see "the regulars" and we'll nod or say "hello" in passing but not til this weekend did people actually want to talk to me. And it was it a nice conversation? Of course not. It's the same Boston Red Sox bullsh*t.

Wow, what a loosah.
I would make a comment here about Sox fans being mean-spirited balls of negative energy, but then I remember that Yankee fans like to boo the most productive player on their own team.
