Britton Up, Who's Going?

From NJ.com: Ledger on the Yankees -

With the Yankees having used all 7 relievers last night, Chris Britton has been called up from Triple-A Scranton. Britton just walked in the clubhouse; the guess here is Carl Pavano will go on the DL.

Well, then, who's not on first. Who's pitching next Tuesday.

Kevin Thompson could have been sent down.

Very possible. But, that would leave them very thin in the outfield and the infield - if Miggy has to play the OF.

Yeah, and it also means that we have to take a downgrade in Kevin Reese once the bullpen situation cools down. It's a lose/lose a little less kind of thing.

Makes a lot more sense to send down Thompson, who's doing nothing but pinch-running right now. If the worst-case scenario arises and an outfielder gets hurt, Peter Abraham mentioned that Phelps was recently working out as an outfielder.

There doesn't seem to be an indication Pavano is heading for the DL. It's pure speculation by this "Ledger" writer and sounds like BS to me.

The Ledger just said that Pavano never took the mound and that Mussina cut his session short after 7 pitches, and that the team 'just announced' that both will go on the DL.

Doesn't sound like speculation to me. Either that or this guy is a huge liar.

Well, he wasn't lying. Peter Abraham just reported both Mussina and Pavano are on the DL. Great.

I'd rather have one of the pitchers player the outfield than Josh Phelps.

Yeah, he was wrong (that Britton up meant Pavano DL'd), but he was right that Pavano is going on the DL.

I'm excited for Chase Wright. Can't wait for him to make his debut.
