The Hidden Clause In The Curse of The Bambino?
Does anyone else think that it's odd that Babe Ruth's birthday is February 6th, as in 2/6, and that the Yankees have been stuck on World Championship # 26 for a long time now?
There's been some strange post-season stuff happening to the Yankees since their 26th ring - the 9th inning of Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, their starting pitchers getting undressed on the mound during the 2002 ALDS, the Alex Gonzalez HR in the 2003 WS, the choke of the 2004 ALCS, Bubba and Sheff crashing in Game 5 of the 2005 ALDS, Kenny Rogers in the 2006 ALDS, etc.
Could it be that whatever magic/curse which the Babe provided had an expiration clause, and the cancellation mark was driven off his birth date? Nah, that's nutty, right?

Or it could be the law of averages catching up to the Yanks

Well the captain wears #2, and the manager wears #6, so maybe the Yanks have to get rid of those guys before they can win another one...

LOL Mike!
Maybe they can just get rid of #6?

Did anyone ever believe in the Curse of the Bambino? I sure didn't. I always felt it was nothing more than an excuse by the Red Sox fans. "We are good enough to win, but the damn Curse keeps us down." Sure, sure...
It's interesting, though, how the Red Sox basically fell apart after their World Series victory. They had a first-round playoff bounce in '05, and didn't even make the playoffs in '06. Now they're spending wildly to try to get back there. Say what you want about the recent failures of the current Yankees, but even at their worst, they never had a tank year like the Sox did in '06.

I like to blame Alex Gonzalez's 2003 HR on the fact that Joe Torre is terrible at managing the bullpen. I blame 04 on, well, Joe Torre, terrible at managing the bullpen and his baserunners and then getting stuck with a bad back end of the rotation. And Kenny Rogers cheated.
No curse.

It happens. Look at how well the M's have done since winning 116 games. Or the Padres since winning the pennant in '98. Or Toronto & Philadelphia since '93. So on and so forth...

Sorry. This is waaaaaaaaay off-topic, but...
Anyone else shocked that the Boston PD and government are so dumb they couldn't identify a few "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" promos and shut down their own city because of them?
I guess not a single higher-up in the PD or one bomb-squad guy watches Adult Swim.
Chuckleheads.

I thought it was because good Yankee teams were playing other good teams in short series where if a couple of things don't go your way you lose. Plus, how many times since 2000 have the Yankees been beaten by the eventual WS winner?

I heard an excerpt from the Boston Police commish's news conference this morning on NPR - something about hunting down the perpetrators and putting them away for years. Jeez, makes me wonder what they would've done to Papa Orson.
