Britton's Got The Look

In one of his books, Sparky Lyle talked about Jim Beattie and Ken Clay coming out of nowhere to win Game 1 of the '78 ALCS. The way he described them was like:

They were throwing hand grenades - the way their stuff was so nasty. Plus, they were pitching with a look on their mug that said "OK, go ahead, try and hit this!"

Chris Britton is working on that look this Spring.

Awesome look on his face. But can he pitch? I haven't read anything so far this spring about how he's throwing. I'd love to see/hear something about if he's got as much gas as advertised.

He mostly worked the 6th and 7th inning last year. He's tough on RHB but has some issues with LHB. Reportedly, he can get rattled with runners on sometimes. Also, they say, while he always wants the ball, he gets gassed after 1 IP - because of his conditioning. He tapped out in August last year - maybe the heat does get to him?

At the worst (best?), he could be a Jeff Nelson type this year. I know that I once read somewhere (Shandler?) that he has closer potential.

Britton has the look...

...of someone who has sex with farm animals...

...and then eats them.
