New Look To The Site
I decided to go with an image file instead of just text for the banner here. If a million people hate it, I might change it back. Otherwise, it's staying. If you have any feedback on the new look, please share it here. Thanks.

It doesn't work with Firefox. Frankly, the new image is very annoying.

Thanks
Is that a common issue with Firefox?
How is it annoying?

Looks pretty bad on Firefox. I can e-mail you a screen shot if you want to see it.

Oh wait. New image file up now. Before I was looking at something else.
Still looks a little awkward on Firefox though.

Takes up too much real estate vertically. If you can get the tag line to fit on one line it would help. Also, the blue space on the right is a bit awkward. Maybe float the white box in the middle of the blue.
Not sure how much feedback you really want, cause I could on about the kearning too :-)

Firefox didn't give me any problems with the logo once I reloaded the page.
I didn't have any problems before the reload either, it was only giving the older version.
It looks fine to me though the newer logo takes up more screen space.

Ben - can you e-mail me a screenshot? Thanks!

I might work on that. I sorta agree.

Of course I what do I know, I just spelled kerning wrong.

I like the oval, though I am not in love with the font underneath. It is a little hard to read. What was the thought behind that particular font? Did you want to make it look like handwriting?

LOL - actually, I wanted to make it look like the handwriting of a person a tad off his, well, you know....
I just took it out - and left the oval. Better?

Much better on the size issue. I'd still like to see it centered though.

Steve: I just emailed the screen shot to you. It's looking better.

Ben - thanks!
Jen - it's not centered?

FWIW, I just changed the site from 700 px (500/200) to 800 px (600/200) px. Any thoughts on that?

The simple title you had before was much nicer than this graphic, which frankly looks kind of amateurish. Why were you unhappy with the old look?

I'm using Firefox.
The smaller size is nicer.
The logo is centered over the text, it's not centered over the entire page (i.e., not over the text and links columns).
The layout is fine with me either way.

Steve,
how about red roses as a background? You can have a frame where the middle is beautiful rose pedals, and you can have two frames set-up. On the left side you can have have a running list of your favorite movies from the Lifetime and Oxygen channels. On the right side you can have your list of your all-time favorite movies:
Beaches
The Titanic (BTW, who the hell just meets someone on a boat and gives them their last piece of wood? No...not that wood)
Steel Magnolias
Pretty Women
Fever Pitch
Message in a Bottle
Steve, it looked fine just the way it is....no need to pretty up a Yankee site, only 16 days till pitchers and catchers, right? Hang in there my man...leave the house cleaning to.......Red Sox fans.

Steve - Are you using a software package, like 'Front Page' to help you do your page?
It doesn't look like it.

Nah, just hacking at the code myself.

I'm easily bored.

Why don't you put up one of those surveys to find out what readers think.
I would vote to ditch the new logo as it looks amateurish as someone commented.

Might I suggest using some Yankee pictures, similar to what I have at Pinstripe Potentials? A reader made it for me pretty quickly. I'm sure that someone here has some photoshop skills to help you out.

Well, since I'm not getting paid for any of this, am I not amateurish? ;-)

That's what I was thinking now too. I just added one - but, I'm probably going to get in trouble for it.

I chickened out.
I had this banner up:

But, now I switched it to "The Anchor" - I doubt anyone would be upset with me showing his image.

Steve -
Looks better without the type. Is that a picture of Steve Howe? If so, he is a man with the only truely unbreakable record in all of professional sports - being busted 7 times for using cocaine.
Seriously, I can see someone throwing 3 straight no-hitters before I see someone getting busted 8 times for blow!
Site looks great Steve. Thanks for all the work you do. This is the first place I check when I get to work in the morning.

Thanks.
Actually, that's Andy Hawkins, from the back of the News, when he threw his "no-hitter."
I'm still not thrilled with it. It's probably just a place-holder until I can come up with something better.

Howe was lefthanded...
Where'd you get that pic from?
I have the game, taped it when it was broadcast as part of the "Baseball's Greatest Games" series. His post game interview was surreal, and summed up his season (as well as the 1990 Yankees season) perfectly "with the way things are going, it was just par for the course."
I think I may watch the tape tonight.

I have a huge book that has Sports Headlines from various baseball games going back to the 1800's.
