Sturtze Joins Braves
It's a one-year deal.
Sturtze really was not that good - although he had his moments. But, he was a stand-up guy in public and someone who was willing fight for his teammates. He was a Nick Fotiu type (in a way) - even if he grew up as a Red Sox fan.
Still, there was no reason to keep him around in the Bronx - so, I wish him well in Atlanta.

Steve - the post you had about Jeter and ARod partying in Vegas is true. It was corroborated by Jeter himself in the Post. There goes the story of Jetes not supporting his teammates.....

Thanks - I saw that.
I will comment on that now.

Sturtze got better after Mo convinced him to grip it and fling it. Check T's stats against the Botox in '04 and '05. Pretty damn good. Torre burned him up, and the overall stats went south. Villone came next. Proctor is on the path as well unless someone stops him.

Regression to the mean; he may have handled the Sox, unfortunately, he can't pitch against them all the time :)
I wish him best of luck with the Braves.

Good luck to Sturtzie. He had the dumbest of blank stares on his face when things would go wrong but he was certainly a stand-up guy and one of the few dudes on the team who wasn't afraid to mix it up. I hope he can stay healthy and enjoy another couple of years in the bigs.

The best thing Strutze threw was a punch.
He had one good month in pinstripes, but you still hear people talk about how he was so good for us. People have very odd memories.
The sad part is that Torre has the same memory. If you get a couple of big outs for him, then he goes to you constantly.
I wish him all the luck with the Braves. Though I do hope the myth of his prowess here (which came with two years of ERAs in the high 4s and 5s) diminishes.
