Close Call On 2006 A.L. MVP?

The experts at ESPN.com had their own vote for A.L. MVP. The results:

And the winner is ...

Derek Jeter, SS, Yankees and Justin Morneau, 1B, Twins

Final voting:
Jeter (7), Morneau (7), Joe Mauer (3), David Ortiz (1)

It might be close for Derek in the real election - but it will help him that Mauer will take some Minny-centric votes away from Morneau.

The Morneau and Mauer votes bother me. I know they had great years, but they aren't even the most valuable players on their team. I'd rank them 4th and 5th behind Santana, Liriano, and Nathan.

Okay...you say that Morneau was the 4th or 5th most valuable player...first you list Nathan...solid player but did not have many save opportunities to contribute to the team's success...next, I point to the Yankees...Derek Jeter is not even the best Shortstop on that team!!!
