As much as it hurts this Yankees fan to ask the question, why did they choose A-Rod over Manny?

Don't get me wrong. I probably would have given it to Manny and I'm pretty sure you're aware of my opinions on awards voting, but this one isn't completely inexplicable. Sure, Manny is much better rate-wise, but replace those extra 25 A-Rod ABs with Cairo and what do you have? Besides, everybody loves a gamer (see Ripken, Cal).

Obviously it was ARods 5 GDP compared to a measly 1 for Manny. Clearly superior.
