Jumping Bean

From the Journal News:

Right-handed reliever Colter Bean hasn't been used yet as he recovers from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. "I've been throwing in the bullpen to Casper The Friendly Ghost," Bean said. "I hope they'll let me throw batting practice soon." The 6-foot-6, 255-pound Bean was injured when he tried plyometric exercises for the first time. "Never again," he said. "I was so upset I couldn't eat for a day.''

I've seen plyometric workouts. The thought of someone the size and fitness level of Bean doing these is enough to make me want to not eat for a day. Pretty stupid stuff. Too words Colter: Stationary Bike.

Stationary bike doesn't do nearly as much as a plylometric program does.

Don't know how it happened, but Bean may have jumped into the program instead of easing into it. Could've been a random injury too. These things happen.
