Hey, It's Two E's And One S.
From the AP:
Even before a pitch was thrown Saturday, the New York Yankees apologized to their fans. The Yankees displayed a sign by the customer service booth on the main concourse, explaining it wasn't their fault Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Johnny Damon and Bernie Williams had departed for the World Baseball Classic.
"Thank you for expressing your concerns," the sign stated. "We are sorry that certain players will not be present for portions of spring training. These players have elected to participate in the World Baseball Classic. The World Baseball Classic is an event sanctioned by the commissioner of Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association.
"The New York Yankess," the sign went on, misspelling the team's name, "did not vote to support this event. Any comments you have regarding the World Baseball Classic should be directed to the commissioner of Major League Baseball or the Major League Baseball Players Association."
{Mr. T Voice} I pity the fool who misspelled "Yankees." {/MTV}
Think that person is working on their resume tonight?

Funny...
I think it's pretentious that the Yanks feel the need to apologize to their fans, but that's just me.
So, will they offer an apology on days these guys don't play?

Hey, there's some bucks on this issue. People plan spring vacations for the family, fly down, get a hotel, for what? To see Bubba Crosby, Miggy Cairo and Felix Escalona instead of A-Rod, Jeter and Damon? I'd be a little ticked.

If it's for the family (assuming you mean children) they don't/won't care that it's Crosby, Cairo, etc playing. They're happy to be there, attending the game, to see the Yankees.
Remember the fan festivals of yore? I attended every single one of them except 1997 (sold out quickly because of the success of 1996). Mantle, Dimaggio, Ford didn't attend any, to my recollection. We all still had a good time, getting autographs from luminaries such as Hector Lopez, Luis Polonia, Jim Leyritz, etc.
And I stand by my comment. People make plans to see the Yanks play @ the Stadium. Will they offer an apology to the fans who've come all that way to find that someone's not playing because it's their off day or because they're on the DL?

Well, they didn't apologize last season when Joe Torre fielded a team against the Red Sox on a Sunday afternoon that consisted of Russ Johnson, Rey Sanchez and Tony Womack after a 17-1 debacle on Saturday. Torre must live by the wise words of that old WABC-TV weatherman, Tex Antoine. Yeah, just lay back and enjoy it.
