Jason Michaels

Now that Aaron Rowand has been traded to the Phillies, I have to wonder what Philadelphia will do with Jason Michaels.

Could he be the "smaller name" that Brian Cashman once hinted towards?

Michaels is a decent CF in terms of range - thereabouts. And, he's shown a knack for getting on base. Don't expect any pop though. And, he's not a kid. At the worst, he'd be a great platoon player with Bubba Crosby.

If the price is not too high, maybe the Yankees should make a run at him.

Or maybe the Phillies are the "third" team that was alluded to in earlier discussions about Rowand to the Yankees. Pipe dream but would the Phillies be interested in Pavano? Pavano and $$$ to Philly for Rowand and a minor leaguer?

Expect Cashman has been quoted as saying he's not trading Pavano. Now, that could be smoke. But, then again, Pavano was Cashman's signing. So, maybe he thinks he needs to make it work to save face? I dunno. But, if they could turn Pavano into Rowand I'd be OK with that too.
