Let's-Go, Pre-Cip
A rainout today might be a good thing for the Yankees. It could reset the emotional clock of both teams. And, for sure, it gives Wang a chance to help in either Game 4 or 5. (If Game 4 was tomorrow instead of today, Wang has 3-days rest. A Game 5 on Monday would mean Wang has normal rest.)
I'd rather see Wang following Chacón or Mussina in a game at this point than seeing the usual suspects.
Start rain dancing Yankees fans.

As long as they call it before I drive into the city and pay $24 for parking.

Done deal now. You have a Sunday night game instead.

It worked! Game cancelled.

Steve, how is this a good thing to give Shields and Escobar more rest? Those guys have been the difference in this series and have flat out owned the Yankees.

Max - if the Angels have a 10 run lead in the 5th, it doesn't matter if their pen is rested or not, right?

I guess I like our chances better in a shootout with their big stoppers sidelined, than I do in a pitching duel with the black hole between the starter and Mo. Especially given our defense vs theirs.

A thought on last nights game: Bring in Chacon, what with a rainout Saturday a virtual sure thing. The Yankees had to win that game.
Who would pitch Sunday? Worry about that later.
Of course Chacon could have been bad in relief; Gordon doing his usual post-season puke-up more than likely.
Still......

I think this helps the Angels a lot more than it helps the Yankees. Are they gonna throw Colon and Lackey and skip over Washburn now? That would be a huge advantage for them.

Have you seen Washburn's stats vs. NY this year?

The ARod/Cano play didn't help much

I think Cowboy Joe West gets the blame there. All of a sudden, now, an umpire decides to make that call? Something was up there.

Had Cano tried for a dp, maybe he gets that call
