ESPN.com: A-Rod & Mo, Yes, Cano, No

The 17 baseball experts at ESPN.com have picked their award winners for this year.

They give A-Rod the MVP and Rivera the Cy Young - with close races on both. But, no votes for Robinson Cano for the Rookie of the Year. (Huston Street was the runaway winner.)

Bob Klapisch voted for Joe Blanton, over Cano. What's up with that?

Peter Gammons picked David Ortiz!?! No way!!! CoughSarcasmCough

As for Blanton - I'm not really surprised he got a vote - he can't help the fact that the A's score no runs for him. He probably didn't pitch as well as his ERA because he did have a pretty damn good def. behind him but still 201 IP, 178 hits, 116 Ks - that's not too shabby.

and take a look at those splits - he got a lot better when it counted more (2.65 ERA, .226 BAA after the break)

ESP. against the Angels - 4 games started - 0-3 but with 30 IP, 23 H, 18 SO - .209 BAA!
