Can You Hear Me Now?

From an interesting Post article on Stein and Cashman (where George called Brian to ask him to stay), an item thrown in, at the closing:

Pettitte said while he was playing golf Thursday with pal Roger Clemens, The Rocket handed him a cell phone and Torre was on the other end wishing his two former pitchers good luck in the World Series.

Why do I think that Contreras and El Duque did not get that same call from Torre?

Nor should they have. I have nothing but love for El Duque but I can't stand Contreras. I hope he gets crushed out there and maybe gets a little Jaret Wright treatment (liners up the middle) to boot. All those that want to blame Mel for Contreras' failures are entitled to their opinion but Contreras needs to take responsibility for his failures as well. He was a pure shitbag for us, didn't do us a bit of good and doesn't deserve to get a call from Joe for good luck. If Joe were less diplomatic (meaning, if I were Joe), I'd call him and tell him to choke on it,

Right...

Despite the nice run Contreras has had, I'd like to see him do it over a full season. He has a good arm, and I'm glad he's having success, but I'd rather reserve judgement until the end of 2006.
