September 14th @ The Devil Rays
Holy Deborah Van Valkenburgh Batman! That was too close for comfort. Oh, those LOBs. Nice tag by Jeter to end it.
Speaking of Jeter, he made it what Joey Tribianni would call a moo point, but, I would have pinch-hit for Cano with Bellhorn on the 7th with the score 4-4, and the bases loaded, with the lefty on the mound.
Speaking of the 7th, it was nice that Wang managed to get into that frame. When I saw Proctor warming up with Embree in the 5th, I freaked. Every game is must win, no?
Memo to Torre: Only use Scott (The Mouth Breather, seriously, doesn't it seem like his mouth is always open?) Proctor when you're up by 5 or more. Do not bring him into a close game.
The Yankees magic number is 21. Any combination of Boston losses and Yankees wins that equal 21 means the Yankees will win the A.L. East.

I like what you're laying down today SL: It's division title or bust. A wild card berth may come as a by-product, but it can't be the focus.
Great link: Ted Knight was hilarious...easily one of the twenty funniest comedic actors of the 20th century.

From a baseball standpoint, anyone else think the Lugo stolen base attempt was a poor one?
I thought he took the bat out of Crawford's hands. With his speed if Crawford singles, you have 1st & 3rd. On a xbh (having already 2b & 3b), maybe Lugo scores...
Good game for the Yanks, still bugs me that they left so many runners on base.

I just figure, when it's *this* close, you have to go for the DIV, and let the WC be a fall back.
As far as Lugo and the SBA, well, who was up after Carl? Would the Yankees have pitched around him?

Always go for the div title. The wc shouldn't be in consideration. Even more so, give the $$ they are spending.
Plus, I hate the concept of a wild card. Can't be the best team in baseball, when you aren't even the best team in your division/league (:

I think I'm not out of line here by saying that a BOS/OAK series split would be just what the doctor ordered.
The Yanks are going to continue to TCB.
