Last Ten - And The Remaining
Including today's games, both the Yankees and the Red Sox have gone 7-3 in their last ten games. What is interesting is how they are doing it.
In their last ten games, on average, Boston has allowed 6.5 runs per game - and has scored 7.7 runs per game.
In their last ten games, on average, New York has allowed 4.2 runs per game - and has scored 4.9 runs per game.
Can the Red Sox continue to out-slug who they play for the next 28 games? Can the Yankees continue to hold who they play for the next 27 games to close to four runs a game? The fortunes of both teams will be determined by the answers to these questions.

My proximity to the Sox allows me to view this team at close hand. With Nixon back in the line-up, Olerud platooning with Millar, Grafanino taking Bellhorn's spot at 2nd, Damon having a career year, and of course the Ortiz/Ramirez juggernaut, you now have an incredibly powerful hitting team. They are never out of any game, and over the last month have appeared to come back at will from any deficit to overcome their horrible pitching.
Of course as I write this, Wells is pitching a 1-run gem. Why can't we get pitchers like that? Ha ha.

It will be interesting to see how the Sox do vs. the A's. It will be a test of good hitting vs. good pitching.
