Just Do It
I've been trading e-mails the last few days with the folks that I split my Yankees season tickets with - and today we were discussing the "keys" the current series, and one of the gang wrote back with:
I thought the key was for me to wear my lucky shirt and sit in my lucky chair.
Know what? I can respect that. We all have those things that we do. So, tonight, and tomorrow, and Sunday, well, just do it.
It can't hurt.

I think I'm going to puke on my shoes. It's sad how up I get for these games. Gonna go mow the lawn to try and distract myself. It won't work. Although with the three-some of Small Wang Johnson going 3 in a row in 3 days, I don't see how we can lose. That's why Bush and Dick were elected twice, right?

I've come to the conclusion that Joe Torre has dedicated this season to Ruben Sierra as a sort of monument to his outstanding record-breaking career in pinstripes. So, really, people, what's really more important here, winning a stupid playoff berth and justifying the $200 million the Yankees have spent to field this team or...just making sure Ruben Sierra goes out in grand style, crappy, useless at bat after at bat? 'Cos you know one of these games he'll close his eyes, swing hard and hit a 5-run homerun. If anyone can do it, you know Big Rube can. Sayonara, 2005 season, people.
