Thanks Alot Bud!
On July 2nd of this season, the Red Sox David Wells bumps an umpire. Thirteen days later, he gets suspended - but appeals. During this time, from July 2nd to date, Wells goes on to pitch in six games for the Sox - and pitches, pardon the pun, well. He goes 3-1 with an ERA of 3.20.
Now, today, on his official website, Wells is asked about his appeal hearing:
Any update on the suspension?
Not yet, im still waiting, but after all this steroid sh*t they might not get to it. I hear that there is about 58 more guys that have tested positive and if that's true, this game is screwed! Congress will have a field day with it, but I dont have to worry about that I'm fat remember? So, I amm looking good! Holla!
A guy bumps an umpire in a game and over a month later he has still not paid the price for it.
Then again, did Sheffield ever serve yet for that thing with C.B. Bucknor back in the end of June? Maybe I should just say never mind....

LOL! If Wells is anywhere close to the truth, then MLB is screwed. The Palmeiro thing may in the end be seen as a trial balloon sent up by Selig to see "which way the wind blows." With Congress champing at the bit for some National Pasttime action, look out!

That was a horsebleep ejection from the umpire...
Having said that, the appeals process is a joke.
As for "I'm fat, I can't be on steroids," that's a crock.
This guy was on steroids

Did anyone see that MLB and the players' union issued a (rare) joint statement regarding these steroid rumors, saying that there aren't a huge number of suspensions waiting to be announced? Bud said something like 1 young player is in the appeal process.
I don't know what to believe. I think Wells was irresponsible for giving a specific number like that, although I'm sure he doesn't care. He's right about baseball being screwed if it's true.
Does he have to end all his posts with "Holla"? What a dork.

I saw that statement - where Bud says it's just one young player currently under review. Let's hope it's not a Yankee.

thanks for the straight line, Steve. what Yankee could that be? there are no young players on this team. if we parse words, maybe Selig meant "younger" not "young." like Kevin Brown is younger than Randy Johnson.

The same young player who had a terrible game after a team meeting and has not hit since........

It's a slump. They happen.
Not that Cano had much of a track record in the minors...
