Pavano Update
From The AP:
The beleaguered New York Yankees pitching staff took another hit Wednesday with Carl Pavano being declared out at least six more weeks with rotator cuff tendinitis.
Pavano, one of two high-profile free agent pitchers signed by the Yankees last winter, has been on the disabled list since July 7 and has not started a game since June 27. If the right-hander returns in six weeks, there would be about 10 days left in the regular season.
Dr. James Andrew and team physician Stuart Hershon agreed Wednesday that Pavano has rotator cuff tendinitis and associated pain in his humerus that requires at least six weeks of rest and rehabilitation.
Red Sox wanted Contreras badly, lost, and lucked out. Yanks got him and him bombed. Red Sox wanted Javy Vazquez, missed, and went for Plan B - Curt Schilling. We all know how that worked out. Then, the Sox went hard on Pavano, lost to New York, and signed Clement.
Just imagine how different the last two years would have been if Contreras, Vazquez and Pavano were on the Red Sox (and not Schilling and Clement)? Lucky sumbitches be they.

Clement has been the beneficiary of a lot of run support, it seems that way at least with his ERA and W-L record.
'Bleep' happens.

Actually, Clement has been pretty good this year. His ERA is a result of his past starts (before yesteday when he only gave up one)where he loaded the bases against TB, got hit in the nogging, and Bradford gave up the grand slam in the fourth to let them all score, and the game before where he gave up six against Chicago. His ERA in those two starts was 10. Two starts does not make the pitcher, Don. He was good as any in the starts before that and the break.
If you wanted to use the Wells/Run support arguement, then I'm right on board.

FWIW, I had been saying from the get-go that the Yanks should've gone after Clement. Peripheral numbers were better, but Pavano had a better w-l record.
Serves them right. Yanks deserve what they get. I would've been happy with Pedro & Clement, but it isn't my $$ being spent.
