Marquis Grissom

I want to say that picking up recently DFA'ed Marquis Grissom could be a good move for the Yankees. But, I cannot do it.

He's had some post-season success (with a lifetime post-season .317 batting average in over 200 ABs). He's a former Gold Glove winner in CF. Reportedly, he's a class guy. On the surface, he seems like he could be the perfect nine hitter and CF for the Yankees for the rest of this year.

But, he's 38 and has had hammy problems this year. That's not a good sign. If he was sound, I'd say this was a no-brainer. But, he's damaged goods, as far as I know. Passing would make sense.

The fact that he's Marquis Grissom is not a good sign.

Man, has it really come to this?

$200M just doesn't buy what it used to...

Marquis Grissom is no different than Bernie Williams.

GET YOUNGER already! next time I hear we picked up a player over 35 I'm going to find who is responsible and shake the shizzle out of them.

I like how you are trying to use post season numbers as a positive? Does Bernie Williams ring any bells?

It's funny that they waited until today to DFA Grissom, 'cos Steven Goldman in today's PB was wondering why in the world the Giants traded for Randy Winn (while bemoaning the fact we didn't get him instead). Well, Steve, that's why.
