Good Night
Wow. The Red Sox blew an early 6-zip lead tonight - and lost to the Tigers by a score of 12-8.
So, now, with 34 games to go, the Yankees are just 2 games back in the lost column of 1st place in the AL East.
It will be very interesting to see what the standings look like just about two weeks from now. That's when the Red Sox come into Yankee Stadium for a three game set.
For the longest time now, it seemed like the Yankees would need those games to try and get closer to Boston. Now, the way things are going, maybe it will be the Red Sox who need to win those games to try and get back into first?
With a few breaks, the Yankees might be in first in the AL East by the close of this month. Amazing.

best,

Listening to the Red Sox on radio, the color guy made a remark when he gave the Yankees score and told about the comeback.
He said the Yankees ran out on the field as if they'd won a playoff game. Back-of-the-hand remark, or jitters?

Anyone see the Sox game, or the highlights? What was Dmitri Young doing in the dugout after his homer with the helmet? Was he making fun of Millar?

You read it here first...
The Yankees will win the AL East Pennant.
The Red Sox will not make the Wild Card as the Oakland A's take that honor from them.

Now, *that,* would be wild.

FYI, from Lee Sinins' ATM report: This is the 1st time in Yankees-Red Sox history that the teams each played a single game, that was not against each other, and the Yankees overcame a 4+ run deficit and the Red Sox lost with a 6+ run lead.

zgveritas, Warner Wolf made a similar prediction Saturday morning on his radio show. (Except he didn't specify who would win the WC.) He said that 2 weeks from this Sunday the Red Sox would be out of first and not make the playoffs. Oh, how I hope that comes true.

Wait, werent the Yanks already in first place this year? When Boston hears the footsteps, they'll do what they do best...win games, of course.

Time will tell.
