Find A Way To Get It Done
From an AP Report:
Through all the ups and downs this season, Torre remains upbeat.
"I have to be," he said. "(Coach) Don Mattingly started using it last spring ... 'Find a way to get it done.' And that's basically what we've been doing."
"We're playing nine innings ... tough, hard-nosed baseball. It hasn't always been pretty, but we've come from behind a lot, we've play an awful lot of close games," he said. We've been playing a lot of games, which means you're tested, basically. I think it's good practice. If you're going to go into postseason, and obviously that's what we hope we can do, it's a good dress rehearsal."
Find a way to get it done.
Could this be the Why Not Us? of 2005?
Hey buddy, get your T-Shirts here. Find a way to get it done.

Not exactly a catchy slogan but maybe it'll work. How about instead "Find a way to get it done, unless we're up late against the Devil Rays. In that case, we'll throw out our worst pitchers and hope for the best!"
You do have to admire Joe's optimism and selective memory, though. And the Sox are giving us every chance to stay in the title chase.

Josh is right...both the Sox and Yankees look somewhat vulnerable. If either team can put about 10-15 games of superior baseball together, they can win the AL east going away.

There's only one way the 2005 Yankees get it done. That's by putting huge offensive numbers on the board. They don't win with pitching. Even when they get good starts, Torre will either take out the starter too early if it's not one of his boys or leave the starter in too long if it is one of his boys. Either way, the lead will disappear and they resort to winning with the bats. They don't win with defense. They don't win with baserunning or manufacturing runs. They either have to blow teams out or keep the other team from destroying them long enough to get to Mo. If they either lose Mo or the bats go cold, there's no chance. So "find a way" ultimately means "hit a home run and then hit six more".
The team is capable of doing that (at times), but it's a very dangerous style to rely on. In each of the last few seasons, the Yankees have become more reliant on pure offense and have gotten knocked out earlier in the post-season where the pitching is typically better. I'm sure it's just a coincidence though. Swing for the fences boys. Don't let that first pitch go by you.
