Bowden Next G.M.?
From TSN:
Yankees. This should be it for Brian Cashman. One G.M. envisions Jim Bowden returning to the Yankees, for whom he worked in 1989, then reuniting with Lou Piniella, his manager with the Reds.
Jim Bowden, the brain surgeon who signed Christian Guzman for 4 years at $17 million. Great.

couldn't be worse than the brain surgeon who let both Jon Lieber and Miguel Cairo go elsewhere over a piddling $2 million a year while signing Carl Pavano and Jaret Wright for a combined $16+ million a year this past off-season. as well as trading Jeff Weaver for Kevin Brown ($30 million well-spent). if you say these were George's decisions, fine, then why are we splitting hairs? Bowden will at least give us fans a few unintentional laughs to tide us over until the new stadium is built. Steve, I'm being cranky because of last night but you get the point.

Guzman was signed for 4. Womack was signed for 2. I'd rather have Cashman (:

Bowden is clueless on most matters, including building a decent farm system. Look no farther than the Reds of recent vintage for proof.
Methinks this is just another one of Ken Rosenthal's loony rumors columns - especially since Bowden was named Reds GM in October 1992, after the season ended, and Piniella managed in Seattle starting in 1993!
No way Cashman gets canned and Bowden gets hired.
FWIW, ever since Rosenthal's piece on A-Rod early in the season, I've had next to no use for this guy.

Shuan, I hope you're right. God protect us from Bowden!
