Joe Kerrigan To Join Yankees

Out of Philly:

WHAT'S THAT saying, good things come to good baseball men? Something like that. Joe Kerrigan, for my money the best baseball TV analyst/commentator Comcast SportsNet has had, is heading back where he's even more at home: the major leagues.

Kerrigan finalized joining the New York Yankees this week, after being contacted by general manager Brian Cashman. Details were unclear, but Kerrigan will be working for Cashman where needed, seemingly in an advance scout/consultant role the rest of the season.

Maybe he can work on scouting Boston?

Maybe he & Mel can compare notes? One pitching coach to another?

Maybe he bumps Allen on the next to be Mel list?

Kerrigan's an excellent pitching coach...bit of an asshole but a great coach. He is obviously the heir apparent to Mel. Thank God!

Steve...on your thoughts on scouting: absolutely right on. It is ironic how, with the curtailment of Stick's involvement with the team and George's short-sighted slashing of the budget for major league scouting, the organization that showed everyone in the game how to effectively scout the opposition (remember how they neutralized Ichiro, Timo Perez, etc.)has been woeful in gathering information on its playoff opponents, failing to stop the "hot" team in each of the last four seasons. With the re-installation of Stick in recent weeks, perhaps this will change for the better soon.

I hope so!

Didn't know where to put this but it was just announced that Wang will NOT start on Friday.

Is he hurt? Was he traded?

Can't find a thing on that. Where did you see it?
