Yeah, It Was Me

In the early evening rush tonight, traffic was somewhat light. And, even though I once said I was not the type to do it, I did it anyway.

Yes, that was me calling into The Michael Kay Show early this evening. I got in on just one ring and there was very little hold time - so, I went for it. If not for those conditions, along with the agreeable traffic, I probably never would have done it.

I just wanted to share my "event" idea from this morning with Michael. If you didn't hear it, well, he was not too thrilled with it.

Maybe Big Stein was listening and he liked it? We'll see.......

So, wha'd he say?

That you just can't "fire" Torre by promoting him, and that you don't take a risk on a guy like Backman with this team, etc.

But, then, he did share a story about Van Gundy with the Knicks where VG said you can stay in a place too long, and then, it's time to leave or change the entire team, because they've all heard you too many times to take it and have an effect. So, in a way, MK was saying that maybe a change would be a good thing.

I suggested Backman saying that he was the present Billy Martin, the fix-it man, etc. And, MK did say that if Martin were alive today, Torre would be fired and Billy would be in.

So, in a way, he did agree with me, IMHO.

he also brought up a lot of dirt on Backman- spousal abuse was one- DUI was another?

Dude - did you hear it?

HBO Sports did a thing on Wally - and, it showed that the spousal abuse was nothing. And, he said that he regrets the DUI choice.

Personally, I could care less on that stuff. Bobby Cox has a spousal abuse charge too. And, many MGRs drink too much.

All I care about is winning games. What they do on their own time is their business.
