Copy Tigers?
The more that I look at the plans for the new Yankee Stadium - which, by the way, should be called Steinbrenner Stadium, if you ask me - the more I see Comerica Park. Notice:

Don't the stands/seats patterns and the layout of the playing field in the park look the same? And, see:

If you take out the light towers at Comerica, it's the same bowl in the box look, no?
For what it's worth, I've heard that Comerica is a beautiful park - so, I guess copying that is not a bad thing. But, this is Yankee Stadium - - so, wouldn't it be nicer if the new park was totally unique?
Then again, maybe it's just a matter of it being a ballpark - and, bottom line, perhaps they do have to look somewhat alike?

I have no problem with building a "new" Yankee Stadium...but why must it be left in the hands of Dr. Steinbrenner after his wire-hanger abortion of renovating the original Stadium?
And WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND decided to pay tribute to the the horrid cookie-cutting 1976 Yankee stadium when you have the chance to rebuild the original?
Effin morons.
My pal Michael Burke just did a boney flip and will be brandishing his ghostly shillelagh shortly.

Repoz, why don't you tell us how you really feel? [wink]

I listened to the press conference on a long drive yesterday with my wife....even she (who is a decendant from a long line of Mariners fans...hahaha!) commented that "this is why people can't stand the Yankees- they are so flippin' arrogant"....who cares about the vice-assistant to the Bronx Mayor?
The funny part is 2 minutes later Mike and the Mad Dog said the same thing....exactly how many people needed to speak yesterday? Give me a break already- its a stadium, not like they cured a disease.
And the best part is- the one person who we wanted to hear- the Boss- only fielded a few questions.
I'm sure the new stadium will be nice...but is there any yankee fan out there that puts "new stadium" at the top of the demand list?
Plus- it ticked me off the way Bloomberg and Pataki spoke of the current staium as if it is the armpit of all stadiums....relax guys- its still, renovated or not, a great place to see a game.
So, I'm still undecided on how I feel about this whole thing...but I'm sure I'll cave in and support it. Years from now, only these posts will be around as evidence of my disdain.

by the way SL- no they don;t look the same.
If you notice- Yankee stadium faces left, while tiger stadium faces right....maybe mirror image is a better term(wink)
BTW- Comerica is a great park...but the best of the "new" stadiums I have been to is the Jake.

I need to get to the Jake. I haven't heard anything but raves about it.

Eh, the Jake is okay... It's no PNC Park, or Camden Yards for that matter

didn't like Camden as much as the Jake...maybe I had better seats at the Jake....Safeco is great too...If I had to rank them:
1) Jake
2) Safeco
3) Miller Park
4) Camden
5) PNC
One plase I would love to check out is Arlington
